What is a Rally or a Contest

RALLIES are FREE to enter for all of our Members where you can fish for what ever gamefish you wish, Mako, Bluefin, Yellowfin, Albacore or even a Marlin. The Club encourages you to Tag & Release Game fish that you do not wish to eat.

Fish that you wish to be weighed in must be equal or greater weight than the line class. Example if you are fishing with 15kg line, a Bluefin captured that you consider weighs around 20kg can be weighed in, If the fish is under 15kg it is not eligible for a Prize or Perpetual Trophy. Fish do not need to be cleaned before weighing at a Rally unlike major of sanctioned competitions.

All Successful weighed in fish may be eligible to win a Perpetual Trophy or a Regular Rally Prize if you are judged to be the winner of that Rally. (No Entry Forms required for Rallies)

Highest Tag & Release Point Score Junior Angler - Prize

Highest Tag & Release Point Score Small Fry Angler - Prize

Highest Points Score Fish by an Angler - Prize

Heaviest Shark by an angler - Prize

Please Note: For all Rallies & Contests, please make sure you have a "current" Grid Map & a VHF Marine Radio to report your position on the Clubs hourly radio skeds on VHF Channel 73. (Ten past the hour, 8:10am, 9:10am etc)

(The Club also utilises the assistance of Coast Radio Hobart for Radio Relays in area's that have poor coverage & marine radio black spots to help report your boats position back to radio base at Eaglehawk Neck)

Please also note that there must be at least two people on board the vessel in the rally of which one must be a financial member and shall be the eligible angler for catch prizes.

Tag & Release, all Members are encouraged to Tag & Release any Gamefish that you do not wish to eat. For Tags please contact the Tag Coordinator Shane Banks. His number is listed under the committee tab on this website. The Club has a number of Perpetual Trophies at the end of the season for the Angler that has been judged the winner with the most Tag & Release Gamefish for the Season.

Light Line Contest- This Contest rewards ANGLERS that target Gamefish with 10kg line or smaller line class. There are Awards & Prizes for Anglers over Seven Specific Categories. (Contest Entry Forms)

The Australia Day Shark & Gamefish Challenge - This Contest Rewards Anglers Who target sharks and other game fish.
There are Prizes & Trophies on Offer that award Successful Anglers over many Specific Categories. (Contest Entry Forms)

Australian Bluefin Tuna Contest - This is the Clubs Premiere Contest, The ABTC targets specifically Bluefin Tuna but includes other categories for the complete Angling Experience, Marlin, Mako, Albacore & Yellowfin Tuna can all be Targeted as long as they meet Line Class rules (Fish must be equal or heavier than line class)
Many Trophies and Prizes are on offer in this Premiere Contest over two days of Game Fishing. (Contest Entry Form)

Please Note: All Members "Must Provide" evidence of holding "current" Marine Boat Insurance on their Boats before they can enter any of the Clubs Rallies or Contests. You MUST Provide the Insurance Company Details, Policy Number & Expiry Date of your Boat Insurance Policy.
This is a requirement of all Australian Game Fishing Clubs.
NO INSURANCE, NO ENTRY INTO THE CLUBS RALLIES OR CONTESTS.
